Are you overwhelmed by all the
toxic chemicals around us?

Here is how you can do something about it right now!
Make your way to the Port Townsend Marine Science Center for a special exhibit on making your own toxic-free spa treatment products. For the month of February we will provide the ingredients, so come on down and de-toxify your personal pampering routine!

PTMSC staff member Jamie Landry shares, “Toxic chemicals that are harmful to people, wildlife, and the marine environment are all around us. This can cause a feeling of helplessness when facing the complex chemical names on product labels.” PTMSC is relieving visitors of that challenge by offering an opportunity to decrease toxics in their personal and marine environments. “We are encouraging visitors to take a meaningful step - stop by and mix up your very own toxic-free spa treatment products. The experience comes complete with lab coats, beakers, and pipettes so you can feel just like a scientist – mixing and matching your favorite ingredients to find the perfect combination that will make you and the environment feel great.”

The Port Townsend Marine Science Center offers many hands-on experiences for visitors. We are open Friday-Sunday from noon to 4:00pm in Fort Worden State Park.  Come on down to learn more from our new exhibit, Learning from Orcas~ The Story of Hope, which includes a newly displayed orca skeleton, important information on toxics in the marine environment, and activities for visitors of all ages.
